Silicone resin binders

Silsan® silicone resin emulsions, developed by Graf Chemie, are high-performance binders designed for the formulation of premium façade coatings and plasters. Built on a quartz-like inorganic SiO₂ framework with organic methyl groups, they combine the advantages of mineral-based coatings with those of synthetic resin paints. The result is coatings that are both highly water-repellent and vapor-permeable, ensuring façades remain dry, protected, and breathable.

These emulsions offer excellent weather and UV resistance, natural matt microporous finishes, and outstanding durability. They protect pigments and fillers by embedding them irreversibly into the binder matrix, safeguarding coatings from environmental stress. Depending on the formulation needs, both methyl silicone resins (for highly durable, dirt-resistant films) and polysiloxane resins (for cost-efficient, strongly hydrophobic systems) are available. In many cases, polysiloxane resins eliminate the need for additional hydrophobizing additives, offering further production savings.
